Playing with Brother Bear

This is me and my new brother Bear. He didn't really want to play with me, but I love him so much!

Busy! Busy! Busy!

I have been so busy lately! So much for the quite life of a city dog! I had my first bath.... not so easy! I wouldn't get into the bath tub so my mom and my human sisters had to "bucket" bath me.  By the time they were thru, they were as wet as I was! And because my new collar was red, it got wet too (cause they had to keep me on my leash because I kept running away from the water) my neck turned pink! Mom says we'll have to do it again soon... once she regains her strength!

I also went to the park and this little girl came running over and gave me a big hug! I didn't even know her but she said I was a good dog and a pretty dog. Then she ran off to play. There was another dog playing in the park that looked just like Cricket but Mom said I couldn't go play. So I cried and jumped around and whined but Mom said no and no is what she meant, so we went the other way.

I also went to Pet Smart and walked around. Mom wanted to see how much weight I've gained but I was afraid of the scale and wouldn't get on it. She said that was okay because I have to do see Dr. Kelly next week anyway to get the rest of my shots.... YUCK!

But I did get to meet some people at my mom's work. That was fun! But I didn't like having to go upstairs to Mom's office. That was scary! But there was a really nice man named Chris there that gave me some beef jerky! I really like him!

This week, Mom's going to go get me something called a license and a park permit so that I can go to the dog park and play with some other dogs! That should be fun! I'll let you know if I make new friends!

Welcome Home!

It's been two weeks since I was adopted by my new forever family. My first day home I was introduced to my canine brother (Bear) and sister (Cricket). I liked Bear a lot! He's big like me and we can play together. Cricket is old and has trouble walking. Mommy says I have to be "gentle" with her. I'm working on this. I also met my human daddy and brother. They like me a lot, just like my human sisters!

The adoption place didn't know a lot about my background so they told my mommy that I wasn't housebroken and liked to stay outside. That I would need to be taught some manners and how to be a good neighbor since I came from an area that is mostly sheep and cattle farms.

The first couple of days were hectic, there was a lot to do! I went to see my new doctor, Dr. Kelly, and she looked at my sores and told my mommy that they would need to be cleaned out and the June grass removed. Then she gave me my first shots and said that I should come back in five days to have my surgery. Dr. Kelly also said that I needed to get some good food in me as I was under weight and my hip bones were sticking out.

So I went home and my family feed me yummy food and made sure I had plenty of fresh, clean water. They gave me lots of love, my very own fun toys and I even got treats! So I made extra sure that I was a good boy! And guess what? I AM housebroken! No accidents for me! And I LOVE sleeping in the house with my family! I'm not food aggressive. I love people of all sizes and kitties are okay too! I can't sit on command but we're working on "wait", "stay" and "down". But mommy says I'm still a puppy so there is plenty of time to learn.

I went to see Dr. Kelly and she removed all of my stickers. I didn't feel too good when I got home but my family sat with me and made sure that I had whatever I needed. By 4:30 a.m. I was feeling really good! And they were very happy about that!

Now it's a week later and I've put on weight, my fur is growing back (they had to shave me because of all the June grass). Now my mommy tells me that I am to have two more adventures very soon: one is called a visit to the "groomer" and the other is "camping". I'm not sure what those are but I'm sure that my forever family will be there with me the whole way!

Rescued!

Hi! My name is Dakota Skye but my new forever family calls me "Koda" for short. My story could have ended sadly, one like so many other stray or abandoned animals, but I was lucky! I have so many people to thank for helping me find my new forever home and family!

First, what is know about my back story. I was picked up by Animal Control officers from a small, rural town in Utah. They took me to the local animal shelter but I was too big for them (I'm a Great Pyrenees) to keep so I was put on their euthanasia list. Some wonderful people from Wag On Train rescue saw me and decided they would put out the word to see if some would save me!

Jamie at Wag On Train posted my picture on Facebook and other social networking sites, to see if someone would open their heart and home to me. An nice lady named Christie shared my info on her Facebook page and my new human sister, Britt, sent my info to my new human mommy and the rest is history! My human mommy contacted Jamie and told her that I would be a great addition to their home. So Jamie set about getting my adoption papers ready.

My human mommy says she fell in love with me the moment she saw my picture. She wasn't worried one bit that they weren't sure about my manners and whether or not I was house broken. The big problem was getting everything arranged so that I could be taken from the shelter before  my "dead" line. Because I was so far away, my mommy couldn't come get me until Saturday.

That's when this great lady named Polly stepped in and fostered me for a day or so until my new mommy could come get me. Polly was really nice and had lots of dogs and horses. Because I had so much June grass in my fur, they had to shave me. That's when they found out that a lot of the June grass had buried itself into my skin and I had some infections. Polly took good care of me and made sure that I took all my medicines.

Then, on the 16th of July, I was sleeping in Polly's door yard when a car pulled up and out stepped three ladies, one with dark hair and two with blonde hair. I met them at the gate and wagged my tail. That's when the dark haired lady told me that she was going to be my new forever mommy and that the two blonde ladies were going to be my forever human sisters. They brought me my very own, brand new red collar and leash! They walked around with me and played with me for a while and then we got in the car and made the long trip home!

I was so grateful to everyone that helped me. If it wasn't for them, I would have crossed the rainbow bridge before my time. I'm also thankful to all those people that donate to the animal causes. Every little bit helps!
